Christmas Cocktails vol. I : Mulled Sloe Gin
Now is the time of year to indulge in a cocktail or two, and especially the making of cocktails. Nothing demonstrates festive generosity like making a drink out of the ordinary for friends and family to enjoy. With this in mind we’ve collaborated with our pals at Sipsmith to come up with 5 easy cocktails for this Christmas.
The first in our line up is Mulled Sloe Gin.
This ideal Winter warmer is easy to make and all you’ll need is:
– 5 parts cloudy apple juice
– 2 parts boiling water
– 2 parts Belvoir Apple, Plum, and Cinnamon cordial (available here)
– Cinnamon stick, star anise, ginger, cardamom, and other mulling spices of choice
– Sloe Gin (or Damson Vodka)
Allow this mixture to steep for at least 20 minutes whilst simmering gently, covered, in a large, heavy-bottomed pot on the hob. You can mull for up to 60 minutes if you prefer it more intensely spiced. Guests can serve up pours in a mug before topping with 25-50ml of Sipsmith Sloe Gin and a wedge of apple or orange (or both! It is Christmas, after all).
