Augustus Hare HQ – renovation

It’s Spring and we’ve created a new studio space at Augustus Hare HQ.

Our main base is a farm in Suffolk, which at the centre has an Elizabethan manor house. The attic has a series of rooms that haven’t been lived in for at least 100 years, becoming dusty and used for storage.

Renovation begins...

Over the winter we put into work reclaiming one of these rooms – dusting it down, raising the ceiling, adding a sky light. This is now complete and a new studio is born.

Have a look at some before and after photos that show the scale of our renovation.

Raising the ceiling, exposing old beams and adding new ones.

Stairs, now and then.

Insulation and plasterboard at last, and the new sky light.

The finished room... Not yet much lived in, but soon to be a hive of activity.

DETAILS: A Suffolk oak desk, with one edge left with only the bark stripped.

And shelves from reclaimed scaffolding planks.
